The American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual is a style guide that describes the formatting, citing, and writing standards most commonly used in academic disciplines. At the high-school level, you can start to learn about these expectations and began using them in your research in order to build this skillset ahead of your future studies. Although your eventual pursuits might prefer a different style guide (e.g., Modern Language Association (MLA), American Chemical Society (ACS), etc.), having an understanding of APA Style will allow you to modify your habits, rather than build new ones from scratch.
